About us
Build local AI. Power it smarter.
SOL.COLLEGE is a practice for solar-aware compute: courses, node designs, planning tools and measured pilots. We are an independent education and infrastructure project, not a hardware reseller and not a financial product.
Why we exist
Compute grew up assuming electricity was uniform
Local AI hardware became genuinely capable at the same moment as small-scale solar and storage became ordinary. Most people still treat those as separate worlds: one team buys the accelerator, another commissions the array, and nobody measures the relationship between them.
We work on the join. That means teaching the fundamentals honestly, designing nodes that suit real generation profiles, and building tools that let people plan with their own numbers instead of a vendor's.
We are deliberately conservative about claims. Solar-powered compute can shift a meaningful share of suitable workloads onto locally generated energy. It does not make electricity free, and it does not make continuous high-demand AI possible off-grid.
Measure before claiming
Every number we publish comes with the conditions it was measured under. Where we have only estimates, we say so.
Separate compute from energy
You can build and operate compute yourself. Grid-connected energy work belongs to qualified professionals, always.
Teach the whole system
Generation, storage, protection, thermal behaviour, workload design and reporting are one subject, not six unrelated ones.
Publish what fails
Pilot reports include the workloads that could not be moved on-site and the assumptions that turned out to be wrong.
What we are not
Clear boundaries, stated up front
Being explicit about scope protects everyone involved.
We are not an accredited awarding body. Our courses are professional education, not formal qualifications.
We are not an electrical contractor. Design and commissioning of grid-connected work is carried out by qualified professionals you appoint.
We are not an investment, token or yield scheme, and we have no official affiliation with any blockchain project.
Any mention of a coordination layer on this site describes optional, future reporting infrastructure. It is not a financial product and carries no return.
